Bayern Munich 1-0 (3-2) Arsenal LIVE REACTION: Gunners OUT of Champions League as Kimmich sends German giants to semi-final

Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Area on Wednesday. 

The Gunners missed out on the chance to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2009, being beaten 3-2 on aggregate.

Mikel Arteta’s side were undone by a second-half header from Joshua Kimmich who charged into the box to beat David Raya with a powerful strike. 

Bayern were able to reduce the visitors to only three shots in the second half as they failed to cause any real problems. 

Harry Kane and co will now go on to face Real Madrid in the semi-finals after they beat Manchester City on penalties.

Arsenal will be devastated that they have missed a golden opportunity to achieve something they haven’t done in almost 15 years.

    Arsenal were beaten by Bayern Munich in normal time as Joshua Kimmich's header sent them home.

    Then Man City were also knocked out after losing to Real Madrid on penalties at the Etihad.

    It means Bayern will progress to take on Los Blancos in one semi-final, with Borussia Dortmund facing PSG in the other.

    Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reacted to his side's defeat.

    Arteta said: "Really gutted dressing room. We are disappointed. I cannot find the right words to leave them.

    “It’s the moment to stay next to the players and support them because they are the ones that have taken us on this journey”.

    Harry Kane has reacted to Bayern knocking out Arsenal.

    Speaking to TNT Sports, Kane said: "Yeah an unbelievable win. It's been a tough season for us. We've had to fight and grind it out at times.

    "We knew we could make the difference with our fans at home. It was a tough game, a tight game.

    "To reach the semi-finals is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy it."

    He continued: "The expectation here is to try and win the Champions League.

    "We won the league for 11 years in a row so maybe there was a bit of tempo missing. That can't happen.

    "Now we have to enjoy the Champions League and try to get ready for Saturday."

    Antonio Rudiger had a huge change from close range right at the end of the first half but he smashed over the bar with his left foot.

    A scare for Man City but they got away with it and the score remains level with only 15 minutes to go...

    The centre-back put in a superb performance tonight, making four tackles, three interceptions, two clearances and boasting a 93% pass percentage.

    In the other quarter-final tonight, Man City and Real Madrid are now in extra-time at the Etihad.

    Rodrygo's opener was cancelled out by Kevin De Bruyne to level the scores on the night and make it 4-4 on aggregate.

    The winner of that game will play Bayern in the semis.
