Jamie Vardy has vowed champions Leicester City will “go again” against Blackburn Rovers on the final day of the season which will be music to Birmingham City’s ears.

Vardy and the Foxes were having a party on Monday night as they clinched the Championship title with a 3-0 victory over Preston. But Vardy quickly made it clear Enzo Maresca’s side will not take their foot off the gas when they face Blackburn at the King Power Stadium on Saturday because they are targeting 100 points to cap a remarkable season.

Leicester can only achieve that points tally with victory over Blackburn as they are currently on 97 points. It means they will be going all out for three points before they are crowned champions, which could do Birmingham a massive favour as they battle to stay in the Championship.

Blues will enter the final day of the season in the relegation zone, in 22nd place, three points behind Blackburn (19th) and Sheffield Wednesday (20th) and one point behind Plymouth (21st). So if Birmingham can beat Norwich City in their last match and Vardy and Leicester beat Blackburn, Blues would finish above Blackburn on goal difference and clinch survival.

"We've got another target now which is 100 points on Saturday,” said Vardy. "We'll celebrate tonight and then go again."
