Brighton and Hove Albion casting eye over Bristol City midfielder

Brighton and Hove Albion are keeping tabs on Bristol City skipper Josh Brownhill.

The midfielder is attracting interest from numerous Premier League clubs at the moment, according to a report by Bristol Live.

Brownhill, who is 23 years-old, has been in impressive form for the Robins so far this season and they will face a major battle to hold on to him in the upcoming January transfer window.

Sheffield United and Leicester City have been linked with him in the past, whilst Brighton have been scouting him recently meaning Lee Johnson’s side will have to bat away interest in him in this winter.

The Seagulls raided Bristol City over the summer to land defender Adam Webster and have their sights set on another of their key players now.

Brownhill started his career with spells as a youngster at Warrington Town and Manchester United before joining Preston North End in 2012

He made his first team debut for the Lilywhites in October 2013 in a League One tie against Gillingham and went on to make 63 appearances for the Lancashire side.

Brownhill had a loan spell at Barnsley in the 2015/16 season before leaving Deepdale on a permanent deal that summer to sign for Bristol City.

He has since become a key player for the Robins and has played over 100 games. He is now in his fourth campaign at Ashton Gate and if they are not promoted to the top flight this term, then Brownhill could make the step up in the near future.
